Lead Engine

What Are Playbooks?

Last updated August 14, 2026

A playbook is the rule set that defines what "good fit" means for your kind of business. Instead of one generic definition of a good lead, Lead Engine tailors what it looks for based on what you actually sell:

If you sell... We look for prospects with...
Website design / redesign No website, or a weak one -- missing a contact form, poor mobile experience, no security certificate
Social media management Missing or inactive social media presence
SEO services Weak on-page SEO -- missing titles, descriptions, and other basics
General / multi-channel marketing A mix of the digital-presence gaps above
Selling directly to local service businesses A broader range of local business categories, matched more on business type than a specific digital gap
Recruiting / staffing services Businesses in industries that typically hire often

Every playbook also knows what to avoid -- most importantly, it won't hand you another agency or service provider in your own space as a "lead."

If none of the standard playbooks quite fit how you work, let us know -- new playbooks can be added.
